AIMS AND OBJECTIVES ...
The Alex Curtis Trust was set up on 18th October 2007 by Peter Curtis (Alex’s father). Since then the trust has grown in ambition and purpose. Its aims are to significantly raise awareness of and coping with asthma by students, teachers, family and sufferers.
It is the trusts primary purpose to raise awareness of asthma in schools. We achieve this by providing educational talks to groups of students, staff and parents on asthma and its relation to allergies and the dangers of complacency. Every talk is supplemented with the following educational material:
- Coping cards that will contain information on how to cope with an acute asthma attack and shows the pupils personal contact details
- Educational material to help students, staff and parents understand asthma
- Information available on the trust website
It is the intention of the trust to recruit and train volunteers with the necessary education and skills that will enable them to assist in the educational work of the trust by delivering the promotional talks to schools and other places of education, employment or recreation throughout England and Wales
It is also our aim to promote and support research for the public benefit into the causes, relief and treatment of asthma and to disseminate the results of the research. This ensures that our volunteers, educational material and our audience are as up to date as possible with the latest research and developments.
We achieve this by working closely with the following and other groups and organizations:
- Allergy UK (who have agreed to support the work of the trust)
- The Anaphylaxis Campaign
- National Eczema Society
- Allergy UK
- Hertfordshire Community Foundation
- Asthma UK
Finally, the Alex Curtis Trust will promote and support such other charitable purposes for the benefit of sufferers from asthma and related conditions and the families of sufferers as the trustees may from time to time determine.
